    I have this kind of shield, metal (can't be more precise :S), and I've never seen anything like this. It is beautiful, antique, but I have no idea of how old it might be, or who made it, or where it was made! Didn't find any kind of maker's mark or something! Anyone can help me? Thanks :D

      Elkingtons did a series of shields like this in the mid nineteenth century.
      A Rosewater Dish.
      Is this it?
      The Battle of the Amazons.
      Rosewater or sideboard dish.
      Designer and chaser: Antoine Vechte (1799-1868).
      Manufacturer: Elkington and Co. Circa 1851.
      Electro-type, gilt and oxide. 28 inches diameter with the outer moulded border. Private collection, Paris, France.

      Yours seems to è missing the outer border.
