    Photo signed " R 1911" We always wondered if it was by Riis. Anyone know if he ever signed photos with an R ??

      Wonderful photograph but not taken by Jacob Riis, in my opinion based simply on examples of his signature, not style.

      Here are two examples of Riis's signature and I don't see any similarity of the "R" to the one on your photograph:
