Carnival glass in my mother`s collection. Includes a `good luck` bowl with horseshoe, a dish with peacocks and grapes, a dish with thistles, and a small dish with sailing boats. I am interested in whether anyone can date these, and or know of the manufacturer.
Fenton's 'Sailboats' (exterior pattern) was introduced around 1914; the interior 'Thistle' patterns was introduced around 1911.
Fenton's 'Peacock and Grape' (the exterior pattern) is from around 1913 the 'Good Luck" interior pattern was first made by Northwood, but Fenton made several Northwood patterns..
Thank you. That`s helpful and interesting. I guess there is no way of knowing whether the `good luck` dish is by Northwood or Fenton?
most Northwood was marked so this is likely by Fenton, as their early pieces were not marked

That is Northwood's Good Luck. Fenton made nothing like this. Fenton's version of Good Luck uses their Heart and Vine pattern surrounding a horseshoe. Not all Northwood is marked!

Welcome, FF. Northwood's Good Luck comes in a huge array of colors and varieties. Some have stippling within the pattern; back is usually ribbed or a basketweave pattern, but some are found with plain backs. One of my favorite carnival patterns.
Thank you. The back is ribbed. It`s a lovely piece of glass. I don't know much about carnival glass, but have learned a little bit from this site!
what throws me off on the Good Luck is the exterior pattern of Peacock & Grape that only found attributed to Fenton.
Not sure why you think the P&G photo is the exterior of the Good Luck bowl, Don. It is a separate bowl, and the pattern is on the interior.
aha, well that explains my confusion; not sure how the 2 sided bowls got into my head but I was picturing these as 2 bowls. So sans the confusing interior/exterior references the first post is correct.
