As both surfdubb and PatSea had requested, here are some recipes from the Waldorf-Astoria cocktail book. Some of these call for sugar, and granulated sugar can still be used, but a simple sugar might be easier and quicker. For authenticity's sake, though, maybe trying the granulated sugar would be preferable.

For my friend PatSea…..the Daiquiri recipe looks to be close to today's drink. And Bacardi is from PR, but Cuban rum can be substituted. Cuban rum was used from the WW2 years on as President Roosevelt wanted to promote trade with Latin America. Of course, access to any Cuban products in the USA ended in the 60s, and this persists today. But if someone is able to get to Canada, where this product can be obtained….. :)

I hope that everyone finds these recipes interesting, and if any of you try them, let me know how the drinks turned out.

Hi, Trey…that's a memorable part of your family's history! I hope that you may obtain the book. Connections with our family are always good to keep. i would be cool if your GF put notes in the book such as variations and customers' preferences etc.
