This is a very unique item, music box with twirling ballerina inside of a liqour bottle. Has never been opened, music box works. Bottle still has all original labels on it. Has the name LUCAS BOLS 1575. Does anyone have any history of this bottle, a age period of reference or a possible value. Would appreciate the info, thanks

The famous Bols Ballerina bottles were produced between 1957 and the late 70’s. Their popularity was at its peak in the late 1960’s, early 70’s with a production of 60,000 pieces a year (in 1971, for instance, some 30,000 pieces were sold in the USA…)

      There were several versions:
Contents: 500ml Apricot Brandy, Gold Liqueur, Triple Sec, or Creme de Menthe.
The ballerina had either a white or a red skirt
      Music: Blue Danube
The selling price used to be NLG 33,50 (Netherlands)
Nowadays, the Bols Ballerina has become a popular collector's item.
The value depends on what a collector is willing to pay
recent sales (2010) were between $45 USD to $125 USD

I have a 500ml with Bols ballarina. Still in very good condition, brought directly from amsterdam in the late 70's early 80's. It was passed down as a gift from my mother. The Ballarina has a white dress whom still dances on a regular occasion within the Apricot Brandy. Never been opened. Can anyone give me a rough valuation?

I have the Bols Ballerina bottle with Apricot Liquer. The dress is red. Never been opened, but is evaporating. My husband bought it in the early 70's. Unfortunately, the music box no longer works. Maybe wound too tight. Would like to know if it could be fixed.

These were from the early 1970's era. My parents got one for an Xmas gift back then, and I think my brother still has it ( unopened ). Still in working order. There are real 22kt gold flakes in it ( if I recall that you were to strain out before drinking) as it said something on the label about that. A Novelty item. Ours was never opened as such a neat item. The music box played, the ballerina turned around, and when you shook it first -- the gold flakes floated around in the heavier liqueur.

Very neat item. Value, whatever you are willing to pay.
