Delightful little Liberty & Co moonstone pendant in sterling silver. Unmarked, but identified from the May 1910 advert in "The Queen, The Ladies' Newspaper". The other necklace shown around the pendant is a well known Jessie M. King design. Interesting to see the actual prices back in the day, hope these show up in the pic.
Also cool to see other peoples' pieces in this section, this is a great resource.
That sure is delightful!
Hi Paul. A recent acquisition?
Yes picked it up earlier this year. After seeing a copy of the advert I was amazed to come across the pendant within a couple of weeks. The clincher on authenticity is the mille-grain edge around the moonstone setting, which you can just make out in the advert.
Now if only I could find that Jessie King necklace! Love your pieces by the way, laughed out loud thinking of people trying to flick the horn brooch off you.
STUNNING!!!
I think I saw this. Was very good buying, sometimes you get lucky. I think this also appears in a MBCo advert. Am I right in thinking you are from NZ? Good jewellery buying there.
As for the Jessie M King, you'll have to chat to BelleEpouq, she's unearthed a few nice bits.
Yes the name kiwipaul is a bit of a giveaway, I am from NZ and yes, it was well bought. I'm guessing you're a fellow sleeper hunter?
I'm not so far from you Paul. Same side of the planet. And yes, I love to collect. So what else do you have in your jewel box?
The jewel box has become something of a Tardis. However I have few jewellery mysteries I can't solve from the bottom of the world. Next posting is an Art Deco platinum and diamond charm bracelet with a mystery mark. Any suggestions as to maker will be more than welcome.
Welcome to CW Kiwi!
Delighted to cross another fine jewelry serious collector ;-)
Fantastic post with documentation, please post your mysteries !
Yes, it is interesting to read the prices it doesn't seem much but it was lot of money for most people.
