I have 3-Photo albums that contain photographs of Shanghai, Japan, Hang Chow Trip, Peiping and Vicinity. and so much more. Unknown about what type of uniform this gentleman has on ?????? This family lived in Shanghai and raised their two daughters their. They Own Race Horses and from looking at threw all the pictures they had taken they were pretty well off in 1932. just though these were so cool to Share, a little different from what I normally post. More picture to come of Houses, Buildings, The Villages and their people and so much more. Even Cool looking RPPC Post cards from the area.
Possibly Shanghai Military Police.
Instituted by the British to control the locals in the late 19thC but by the 1920s many were Chinese nationals. At one stage I think there was over 30,000 SMP, so chances are good!
A police officer isn't going to wear a military officer's uniform, with royal orders and breast stars. He looks like King Rama VII of Siam to me.

TubeAmp that is exactly who it is. After a little further Research I found out that Prajadhirok, also known as King Rama VII, was the last absolute king of Siam. Under his watch, after a coup d'etat in 1932, the monarchy changed to a constitutional form. The seventh Chakri king managed to hold on to his throne even as Siam's political system underwent a complete overhaul.
Prajadhirok was the thirty-third son of Chulalongkorn the Great, so it seemed very unlikely that he would ever ascend to the throne. He studied in Britain, and received a commission in the British Army's Royal Horse Artillery, but his older brother ordered him home at the start of World War I. His experiences in Britain likely influenced his acceptance of the constitutional form of monarchy after 1932.<http://asianhistory.about.com/od/thailand/ig/Siam-s-Royal-Family/King-Rama-VII-of-Siam.htm
