I acquired this beauty when cleaning out my father-in-law's garage. I am having trouble identifying the make, or what parts would fit on it. Would love to fix it up for my daughter. Any help would be great.

I would say it looks like a two speed rear gearbox, not a differential.
Is there a shifter on the drive train?
    3. Ziggity, 10 years ago
There is a gear shifter. I didn't post a good picture of it but in the third picture it is 1/2 half way between the pedals and the seat. missing the knob though.

I think the gear box may be the biggest challenge. One of the cogs is cracked, not sure on the likely hood of locating one that matches.

Dealer promo? Sell it and buy a new one if you are giving it to your daughter. Fixing it could lower the value.

It's a Tri-Ang North Star from the mid 50's. This is a high end pedal and worth some money. You should research it and then decide what you want to do.

If it were mine it would be professionally restored and put in the man cave. The kids will be just as happy with a new one.

"One of the cogs is cracked"...........do you mean the gear has a crack or a tooth on the gear is cracked?
Can you provide a better pic.

Wow, Thanks for the info AZTom and walksoftly.
I will have to research professionally restorers but I think that may be the way to go. Can't say my wife isn't a little sad though, she remembers her brothers pushing her in it as a kid, it was a little on the rough side back then she said.

As for the cracked cog, I got home from work late tonight but will take a picture tomorrow. I could be wrong and it may be that I don't fully understand the drive train. As of right now only one of the gears engage.

      Thanks again.

Moving the shifter will slide the one set of gears out of alignment & engage the second set.

Selling it unrestored may be more profitable. You may want to compare and contrast your options.
