Hello all. I have a silver track medal I hope someone could help me with. It is approximately 1 1/2" in diameter. On the rim it says Indoor Meet then something I can't make out and Prize One Mile Relay. On front of medal where the runners are there is a hallmark. It appears to be a RVT or RMT 1917. It is just a great find.
Great find! Might have been a ribbon attached at one time.
I believe it could be a college medal. Can't really figure it out. Is it AAIC or CIAA or whatever lol?
1917 ICAA = Intercollegiate Conference Athletic Association
Track & Field Medallion design by Robert Tait McKenzie
Okay great. I have a bunch more medals. The guy was obviously an athlete. There are several marksmanship medals as well. So the ICAA is now the present day Big Ten?
"In 1905, the conference was officially incorporated as the "Intercollegiate Conference Athletic Association" and is now the present day Big Ten" - so the answer to your question is "yes"
Agh your knowledge and research constantly amazes! Well done!
