This hanging lamp caught my eye at an antique shop way off the beaten path in North Texas. I don't normally go antiquing, but sometimes when I'm with my mother she likes to go. Anyways, a little quick research on my smartphone lead me to believe that it might be worth something, so I brought it hope hoping to hopefully resell for a little profit. :)
The condition is fair, but very cleanable I think. Obviously, the smoke bell is missing, and someone converted it to electric. It also looks like the cast iron was painted gold at some point and then later painted over black again. Oh, and I don't keep it outside, I just borrowed the hammock's hook because lighting in the garage is dismal at best.
It does go up and down, but there has been some debate among my family as to whether the chains should be going through the holes in the top piece, rather than simply over the pulleys, or if those holes should even be there.
I'm hoping to get an idea as to what this thing might be worth in both it's present condition, or if I were to restore it to its original working condition (i.e. as an oil lamp). Thanks in advance! :)
If anyone is interested, this lamp is for sale:
