Victorian pendant, c1877. This has moveable parts and locks well into place. Oh yea, I read that it was from a bracelet, but I am not sure.

I have to say, I am speechless about this little jewel. My dad gave this to me a very long time ago, said it was my grandmothers (she must have gotten it from her mother or g-mother) and I don't know if I've ever actually seen the stamp on the inside back or not but...as I was looking at it today, There is a patent number on it 186126 and Sterling.

What I found out was it's from 1877! Can someone double check that for me please. I'm not sure of myself with this one!!!

    Thank you :)

Nice! It was used as bracelet clasp. The patent must be for the little heart part as security for the closure.
I love family memories like that!

Thank you Kyra and Phil for the love and nice comments!

And yes, as you mentioned kyra, I do remember seeing that it was on a bracelet as a charm tho. But, I can tell you, it makes more sense to be the clasp! I just always thought myself that it was a pendant, to me it's a little large for a bracelet-seems like it would get caught...shows ya what I know, right?!

Thanks upstate. Quite a surprise to me that it was so old! I almost sold it to someone...No, this I need to give to my daughter!

      Thanks!

I have one here on a bracelet. I believe mine to be Victorian as it was my Aunts and she had quite a bit of Victorian stuff in her home when she passed away in the early 1970's. There was stuff from her mother, and her mothers mother.

It is a very small lock -- and believe it or not -- I also have the original tiny key still with it. It still on its original heavier chain type of bracelet. This little locket was among some other Victorian Jewelry as Gutta Percha, Mourning jewelry, Victorian Hat Pins, Carved Gold Cameo, etc.

I will have to dig it out and Post it here shortly.... then you can compare
