I got this cooler in the mail today from ebay auction. The condition is pretty good but the paint and lettering are ugly, it look someone is trying to restored this earlier but who ever did this not a pro/coke guy.
The red color is way too dark and the lettering look terrible. My project is to bring this sweet cooler back to original color and put nice letter paint on it.
Does anyone know what is the best spray paint in the market that closely match Coke Red color ?.
I saw something like this in Pretti book but has bended /curved handle on it instead of straight like this, is this from the 50's or 60's ?
1950's looks like to me good looking cooler:)
Thank you Trey ????
I forgot to mention I have a six pack Jr as well but mine says Drink Coca Cola in Bottles and is currently sanded down to metal and ready for paint:)
Can't wait to see it Trey !
Nice, thank you for the info Riply206. Acton is one of the rarest collectable brand for this junior version I see a lot of Temprite Mfg for this cooler but Acton is the real deal for me. Yes the lettering is ugly, I need an expert artist to get this done professionally.
Here's a cool period Acton ad.

I agree the Acton Mfg coolers are very nice, especially in original condition. But Cavalier has the "airline" cooler (the most collected and highest valued of the old Coca-Cola picnic coolers).

Nice ad daddy_nobucks, did you notice the handle of this cooler was curved on both side ? do you think its a repro or something ?
Not a repro handle, just a variation. Mine has a handle like yours. I've seen the opener in a couple different positions as well. Not unusual for manufacturers to make changes year to year when retooling, to increase production efficiencies or improve functionality.
