This iridized glass box has a metal collar and lid, appears to be copper or brass with silver overlay designs on the outside and underside of it. It does have design or patent numbers present that I am hoping can help in identifying who made it. It is 5 3/4 " across and 2 1/2 " tall. The glass is a lovely pink/ cranberry color with an oil spotty iridized finish....no pontil on the bottom.
I haven't a clue but the numbers on the lid do not appear to be pre-war to my untrained eye.
I have seen D.R.G.M. (a German patent mark (meaning Deutsches Reich Geschmacksmusteris) before on art glass inkwells with brass lids and pen sets - it is German, pre-war. Maybe a desk tidy? I believe your piece is Bohemian or German glass, Art Nouveau, with an applied German brass lid/hinge. Very pretty, too! :)
Thanks so much for your input!!
Sure thing! :)
Thanks, Michelle too - just coming back to this one in case someone had more knowledge. :-)
