I love these old necklaces. I beileve these are bakelite. My child suggested I should screw them together to one great long necklace. What I great idea that would have been if the screws would have been the same sice!
This new one is 50 cm streached out (open) which is 19.68 inches. The one I had before is 46 cm which is 18,11 inches.
Ops, accidently liked my own post, sorry :)
Val, I have searched and searched and waited and searched...and searched again. Always have my eyes open for this :). And finally I found another one but these are the only ones I have ever seen. (I haven´t found two now, the shorter necklace you´ve seen before). Yes rootbeer or turtoise shell color or something like that. I think you are right that these types of necklaces was for the less fortunate who couldn´t afford amber. That´s one of the reasons why I like them. Jewelry for everyone! Not just to show social and financial status by wearing the real thing.
This necklace and the Jakob Bengel necklace (Another post) I recently found on auctions. It really made me excited. Thanks for your attention and kind words!
