I went to go look at a small utility trailer an older gentleman had for sale. When I arrived at the location, he had the trailer out of the oversized shed/ undersized barn, but had the doors open. I could see in and he had 4 or 5 bikes sitting there ranging from a newer Harley Ultraglide to a old Yamaha DT. So as I was discussing the price of the trailer, I asked if he was willing to sell anything else he had in the shed. This GT380 was sitting under boxes, blankets, and other miscellaneous "junk". So I asked if we could pull her out. The owner said he ran and rode it last in 1993. Since then the gas has been drained and the bike put into "long term storage condition". Looks like all it needs is to button the tank back on, connect the lines, do a carb cleaning, replace the throttle cable, and new side covers. Then it is turn the key and kick start for a great ride. He started with a price of $900 and I took it for $500.
I have a GS 125...this looks like the "mama" version
That's gonna be pretty cleaned up !
So, an update on my project... Inside of the tank has been cleaned and coated, throttle cable replaced, brake fluid replaced, old oil flushed and replaced, carbs cleaned, points done, compression check, new tires on order, new side covers ready for paint, new emblems all the way around waiting for new paint, and then a good cleaning. Can't wait to have her on the road.
Progress is great! Youv'e done alot of work and I hope it does well on the road.
