Serial #C1684-14 is one of the mostly known promo portraits of "The Swan", released by MGM, presenting Lady Gracie as Princess Alexandra. Unfortunately this particular photograph has suffered a greater accident at Sapphire Guardian Archives, resulted in a ~5cm long tear, a longer photo repair and a white bandage at the top. :( But regardless of the damage, the photo is still so beautiful. Another still of this photo series, the lesser known #C1684-140 is also part of the collection.

    Size: 8" x 10"

    Origin: Metro Goldwyn Mayer

    Date of Image: 1956

Present status: Part of the Sapphire Guardian Collection

Thanks. Unfortunately when she has arrived there was an accident, caused by me. In the package the photo was filled with safety tapes, plus had an enclosed safety sleeve. And while I thought it's a simple zipped sleeve, as it seemed as one, instead it was welded together. I don't have a clue why the previous owner filled it with so many safety elements. So, when I tried to open the sleeve with a gentle move, I accidentaly ripped the sleeve along with the picture, which got a 5cm long tear at the top. I was able to fix it with some success, so it doesn't seem that much, but this photo has survived about 58 years to then get a huge tear and a white bandage from me. So, I'm not really happy about it. This is the first antique picture what I've ruined. But hopefully the last.

We have all damaged things that have survived a long time!
I think it fortunate that these photos are with you and being "guarded" now.

True. She is in safe now, along with all the other photos. But I still feel great regret. :(
