Here's another Archibald Knox piece for Liberty & Co. It features seed pearls and turquoise in a deceptively simple design. It's unmarked other than stamped 15ct on the barrel clasp.
It is however well documented - a photo of the design was found in Knox's studio after his death, and is now in the Knox archive in the Manx Museum.
Adrian Tillbrook in "The Designs of Archibald Knox for Liberty & Co" (1976), identifies this as a later piece dating to 1906/7 (see pgs 188-9).
I believe it is model 8625 in the Liberty jewellery sketch book. What I wouldn't give for a couple of hours in the City of Westminster Archives Centre with the sketch book (and a camera if that is permitted?).
Aaah, archives like that that are in museums should be accessible online!!!
I have to agree with you, Kyra.
Beautiful piece.
FABULOUS!!!...:-)
