Archibald Knox Model 500/95 for Liberty & Co, 1904

This Knox pendant is model 500/95 in the Liberty sketch book.

It's about 6cm x 3.5cm, in 9ct gold, hallmarked WHH and Birmingham, 1904. Another apparently simple design until you look closely and take in its Celtic context.

There is a misconception that pieces like these were "mass-produced". However according to Stephen Martin the gold items were all hand crafted. I've shown the back views here of a few pieces I've posted recently, which hopefully show these items were individually hand fabricated, rather than stamped out, or cast from a mold. This is certainly apparent when you handle and examine the items.
