The pieces of Art Glass that I have chosen were made solely by me.
The first blue and gold form was a commission from the Queensland Crafts Council to make a piece of glass for her Majesty the Queen (A gift for opening the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane) This piece was made in my first studio in Tewantin, the piece was entitled "Sea and Sand" and reflected the deep blue of the ocean and the texture of our golden beaches with a white strap representing the crashing waves. In creating this piece I had not long embarked on blowing hot glass into dry Iron Bark wooden forms, this was an exiting discovery for me, I was totally hooked on the tactile surface of the burnt in wood grain that was left behind on the surface of the glass. I went on to use this technique in a range of different forms throughout my career. The second piece is a shell form, once again the piece was blown in a dry Iron bark wood form, when working in this method the studio use to fill with smoke and each piece was always different due the rapid burning out of the wooden form. The third piece is a free blown form from a series called "Spirits of Earth". The fourth piece is also a free blown form from the "Spirits of Earth" series, the form was shaped on a steel maver (table).

Thank you all for your kind comments, they were very fulfilling times for me blowing glass, I finished blowing glass in 1991 as the financial strain was too much , it use to cost a $1,000 a month to run the studio in gas in those days! I am now retied and I paint and draw, I am also writing a children's book entitled "The Amazing Adventures of Tin Lid, I posted some of my pencil art under the heading Arts and Crafts if you care to take a look.
