These are a few compacts from my collection. I have started to really like all things enamel. They appear to be from the 30s and 40s, maybe a bit earlier or later. I hope this is the right category for these!
I have posted a compact recently whose design is similar to the square compact in your first photo....but my compact is round instead of square. See sabyrd8's show and tell. Mine is hallmarked...are any of yours? I'm trying to discover what the hallmark means. If you can help I would be most appreciative.
I will check when I get home to see what I can find out.
Sorry it took so long, I got busy. The first pic (green) is actually rectangular, ad is marked FM CO (F.M.Co.: Finberg Mfg. Co.) The square blue one in the 3rd pic is marked marathon, and the purse shaped one in pic 2 is marked LeMonde. None are sterling, and all seem to be from the 20s and 30s. I picked them up because I like the enamel work.
I have a smaller compact like the first square one.. It has a D engraved on it and is in fair condition. It has a chain and lipstick attached. This one also opens up and has a morrow and blush and a compartment where I guess they kept the blush thing. There is still lipstick and blush on this. It would be great to find out who's it was with DNA! Where can I find more of these?
I can tell you if they are made in England.
