Need some info on this lamp feels like it is made of metal with a silver bird on the front. It is about 9" tall.

Your lamp was made by Heintz Art Metal. It is sterling on bronze and would have had a mica lined bronze shade to match. NEVER polish it, the value would be greatly reduced. Here are some similar:
