Hi Nicky, you say felt? Is that the black material? From the photos, to me, it looks like reverse painting on the glass, the image is painted on the glass. Love them

Okay, I just came to my computer so I could zoom better; Google Asian or oriental (geisha?) reverse painting on glass, I believe that is what you have here

Thank you for getting back to me I'm not sure but I don't think from looking at the close up there painted on the glass but I didn't want to take them out of the frame to find out I didn't want to ruin them.

Yeah, no, but maybe manipulate the back a little bit and see if it separates a bit, might be able to tell if painted on the felt or glass? How does the back look? You can tell a lot about age from the back

I will try and put a picture up of the back of them do you mean the back of the frame or the back of work inside the frame?
    6. Jewels Jewels, 10 years ago
Hi Nicky, just the back as is, in frame
    7. nickyboo14, 10 years ago
I managed to carefully take it out of the frame and it is painted on to the fabric not the glass the materials like a velvet felt. There's no signature on the back or anything and the back of the felt is white. It is like a black cut out of the picture has been pressed into the white back and then it was painted in between the outlines.

Hi Nicky, that is interesting! Can you do a pic of the back of the frame? I wonder if some sort of vintage home craft artist thing, much like the paint by numbers

It won't seem to let me replace one of the pictures so I'll put it up as another item with a picture at the back of the frame.

Oh no that's okay, I cannot tell, I think maybe 1960's (just a guess). I was thinking something for home artists to paint, like a "no fail" painting, based how you say it is constructed. They are very attractive and make great decor. I hope someone reads your description here and can offer more insight.

Maybe go back in and switch the order of your photos, so the painting is first, might get more attention lol

      Thank you for your help.

No problem, wish I could be of more help to you. It might not be a home art project, maybe it was a way of mass production, hmmm, we will see if anyone knows, but regardless they are nice!
