This is a flat top wall trunk 32" x 17" x 27"
I do not know about the history. I am guessing the date to be 1890's
It was painted green all over. Then someone painted the flowers red and yellow.
I scrapped and sanded this for a month. The green paint had left a translucent green stain on the wood slats. I used a Mahogany stain for all the wood. It came out better then I hope.
Then I hand painted each flower, leaf and bud on the tin. There are seven different colors on the flowers and five different colors on the leaves and steams.
This is not the traditional way the flower-embossed tin is painted, but what the heck. How much worse could I make it
Looks great! You did beautiful work!
