Cartier "Diablo" Ballpoint Pen /Gift Box and Certificates / Circa 21 Century

My friend at Salvation Army knew I was looking for collectible pens and today she surprised me with this. It looks brand new and was probably never used. I was a bit skeptical about it's value as there are no marks on it except Cartier on the barrel's band. Nothing indicating the materials and I didn't even know the certification and instruction books were in the bottom until I got it home. The little tab at the back of the tray was there for a reason. Turns out the barrel is a composite resin with a twist mechanism for the point. The clip, band and ferrel are palladium (plated ?) with a small blue synthetic cabochon jewel on the top. All packaged in a red leather case. Doesn't sound like all that until I saw the prices starting around two hundred dollars !! I was told since I didn't see any precious metal marks on it I could have it for two dollars. Score ! -Mike-
