A friend of mine brought this to me a few years back. It sat for well over a year before I did anything with it. I'm not sure of it's age or origin, but I really liked the embossed pattern in the tin and the cast iron hinges as well.
As you can see, it was in horrible condition when it came to me. Apparently, this had been sitting out behind a barn somewhere and took a lot of the elements. I also stripped it out and relined the interior (original tray is missing).
This one now belongs to one of my nieces. I now wish I'd kept it.
Thanks for looking!!

No regrets, she I'm sure appreciates the trunk. It is important to let a few go
to others ,so they to may enjoy .Very nice.
What a great restoration job -- I know how you feel about letting some go -- I like to think that I know where they are and can see them every now and then...
Absolutely love old trunks, and this one is just beautiful. Really nice job on the cleanup.
Many thanks to you all for the very kind remarks. I was bitten by the trunk bug a few years back and I haven't stopped since. It is hard to let them go, but there's no way I can keep them all, unless I build on to my house. And that ain't gonna happen anytime soon!!
Thanks for the loves everyone!!
