I found this streamer trunk at an antique show in Louisville a few years back. It was the end of the final show day and the gentleman didn't want to pack it up and haul it back home. So, I got it for $35. Not bad, considering it has it's original handles, canvas covering still intact and complete linen lined interior. The lock receiver was there, but the lock was missing. I cleaned up the exterior and I had a lock lying around in my shop, so easy fix. She's nothing special, but I just always liked her. I had to let this one go last year, but she's in good hands and well taken care of. I'm not sure of the year on this one, but I am assuming early 1900's (could be wrong though).
About to embark on a similar trunk restoration, only Ill strip the canvas as it is to far gone( looking for the wood look), turning it vertical, mounting it to the wall as one of the two top cabinets for the outdoor kitchen.I'll Add 2 shelves as well.It will be under the overhang of a 16' by 20' room,so it won't really see the elements to much.Always working on pirate cove.
That should be very cool indeed. You'll have to post pics when you get her done. That will be the most unique cabinet we've ever seen!!
I have one of these in my office as a coffee table -- transforms the look of the room and a great conversation piece -- I pulled mine off the curb one rainy night... sounds like an interesting project Drill -- totally have to see that even for shock value...
Thanks for the loves guys!!
