This is a funny holder, a bunny with a holder in form of an egg, possibly an eastern present. The hallmarks are those used for German hallmarking since 1888 (see Decree January 7, 1886) "crescent and crown" indicating in thousandths the fineness of silver until present days. The makers mark is that of Martin Mayer Gmb H. - Bauhofstr. 2, Mainz, a dependency as wholesaler and suppliers-contact, was in Badgasse 7, Pforzheim. The firm used the M, "Wheel" ("Mainzer Rad"), above the "Wheel" a 'normally' six pointed "Star". http://www.silvercollection.it/germansilverhallmark23.html, http://image0-rubylane.s3.amazonaws.com/shops/1131446/045.9L.jpg?67 . Mayer produced designs by Peter Behrens, Hans Christiansen and Patriz Huber. http://www.leopardantiques.com/object/stock/list/periodgroup_uid/4?index=22&keywords=&metadataVVVorderby=saleprice%2Cavailable+DESC%2Ccreated+DESC
