I don't have a photo of the actual block yet (I do believe most of you are familiar with a printing block) but I'm perplexed by the logo itself! This is my rendering of the logo after stamping it on paper-- it also has a ® registered trademark in the lower right hand corner.

Anyone know what symbol this is? I find it fascinating :)

(There is another block that I have with the symbol of a beetle and the text has worn down-- but I believe it would be "Don Stroope," which google tells me is related to Entomology through A&M university. )

      The design in the background?

At the point of the hexagon above the man's head would be the top of the shoulder then down to the head, below the head would be the front leg.
One on each half of hex, mirror images, in profile.

Interesting-- I see what you mean. I also thought, after you said that, that it could look like a bison skull from the front (eyes out to the side, nose front and center) but thought it'd be odd that they wouldn't drawn horns on it. Also kind of looks like two Kokopelli.

Here is another clue-- the side is stamped with "NYPS" and faintly penciled with a name. I'm not sure if that clues into the origin or just one of the many shops/stalls it has probably been through. Could be New York Paleontological Society, who has a different current logo, but I wrote to them last night and the email bounced. Standby for photos.

Updated. I can't tell what the pencilled part says, but anything I try turns up nothing. (It looks like "Valley" but, as I'm in Dallas, it could be "Dallas?" Maybe R.G. Valley?)

Looking at the stamp, I would have to say I don't know what it is!

I see a figure framed by two thumbs and index fingers!
