Just recently found this interesting hand forged weather vane or turret finial. It shows what would be expected age from weathering. The ball at the top is about 4" dia. and the total height is over 5 feet and weighs about 35 lbs.
It has the "N,S,E,and W" directions and the Flur d lis decoration at the base of the ball have obvious signs of being hand hammered. I would imagine it was made by a blacksmith.
Any collectors out there with expertise in this area, I would appreciate any info you might be able to give me.....Thanks!
