I recently purchased this bear from someone who said it was bought in an antique shop in Edinburgh about 20 years ago.
It's filled with straw and has a hump back. Its also in very nice condition. I don't have a ruler to hand but it's height is approx 45cm.
I would like to know if anyone can tell me anymore about it? Is it a Steiff? What era?
It has no logo or label that I can see...
He looks like a English made bear by Chiltern possible . Bears have so many things to look at to id them . He is a early bear with desired long nose ,long arms a hump One thing that would help is what are paws made of felt or velvet ? I do not see any stitching to show mark where toes would be stitched ? 1920's Bear . What is he stuffed with ?
Hi Manikin, his paws are made of felt... its definitely not velvet and he has been filled with straw. I will try and add some more pics if I can.
the guy did mention it was 1920's but I read yesterday that the bears with the humpback, curved arms and long noses were the earliest? so 1903 - 1906. thanks for your help... !!

Hi, I've seen this type of teddy on Ebay a lot lately. My collecting friends and I are of a consensus that these bears are not terribly old I'm afraid.
