I found this item while digging in my yard. It's about the size of a nickel in diameter and made of some sort of metal with 7 diamonds or diamond like stones held in place with metal prongs.
Not sure if it's a pendant, button or what...
Would like to know more about it!
    Thank you in advance.

Probably an old paperweight is my guess. I love the Find !!

The stones appear to be aurora borealis...cool find, can't tell what it is

Not a paperweight because it is only about the size of a nickel in diameter... maybe even a tiny bit smaller.
Thank you for the input though!

What kind of stone is aurora borealis? I have not heard of it?

Hi! It is an embellish crystal I believe, giving the appearance of the aurora borealis lights. On the back, does the one "spot" protrude? Or have a hole?

Never seen anything like that in the UK! Love to know what it is!!

If aurora borealis the beads can be either glass crystal or plastic and has a coating that make them spark. You can search 'aurora borealis' here on CW and will see this type of jewelry. You can also look at Costume jewellry/rhinestone/overview and see what CW has written about it. If aurora borealis the piece is post 1955'.

Thank you Jewels, for the information. The back is solid without any holes or protrusions.
      Thank you!

You're so welcome Carie! Refer to elisabethan comment above, she added a lot of useful info...my guess is that it was mounted, as it doesn't look like any piece has snapped off. Maybe a button, or little pin/brooch as you said above. :)

Yes I think Jewles is right, a little Button or something like that.

I agree, it's probably an old button...I do have some similar, if not just like it. I'm organizing that huge box now and will look for one the same to post. Some of the old buttons are very valuable. It's pretty amazing that there is an actual "button society" .

Ok, as usual, I have taken a better look at your pics after I left a comment.

Take a look at about 11:00. It appears that this may have been a clip on earring and the whole backing is gone.

My apologies...11:00 in the last photo!
