I noticed another collector has a fisher boy on a lamp base posted as an unsolved mystery. That collector had a signature when the lamp base was turned over. It prompted me to take a picture and upload my cute fisher boy. He does not have any markings that I can recognize. I have two pictures of the soles of his boots. Please let me know more about him. I purchased him approximately 2009 in Aurora Kentucky at the Hitching Post, near Kentucky Lake. There was no lamp base on my fisher boy. I am interested in more info.

Atlantic Molds still offers over 250 molds - your "Smiley - Fisher Boy" mold apparently is from around 1972 and is no longer offered. Atlantic Mold also offered several different base molds, one of which was a lamp base mold.

Thank you aghcollect. Is it normal to be absent an "Atlantic Mold" marking? There is a discrepancy in the artistic quality of the painting between different "Smilies" on the internet. Who paints these? My Smiley Fisher Boy is extremely well painted. There is even "shading" in the contours. My Smiley is always very happy and pleasant to be around. Never complaining. Although he has a small pencil like mark on his forehead (that I can not erase) and what appears as a smudge on his right cheek, that does not wash off ( I have tried and he just smiled the entire time)! This is my first education to the "Atlantic Mold" company. I am very grateful to know more about him. Happy Thanksgiving.

      Hi FiddleMando
I have several pieces from Byron Mold. Just like Atlantic Mold, you can buy these blank pieces, in other words they come to you white, and then each person paints them however they like and using their unique talents. That's why no two pieces from a mold will end up looking the same, even though they started out the same.
