Hello, this is my estate sale find today, a vintage American tourister train case, maybe 60's or 70's? Not sure. It does have that color that only the 70's could love...hmmm. $5 and I will use it! Thanks for looking! Julie
Love, love these jewels. I have a few myself and use all of them. I have some larger ones too. So easy to transport your goods to flea markets...sturdy and last forever. 5 bucks is a great find!
P.S. There used to be a lift out case in it with compartments and a mirror as well. Still an amazing find!
Hi Share! Thank you! I'm going to use this for shampoo and make-up and such. It smells like that "old powder" smell, you know what I'm talking about? It is weird because I have an old clock that smells like that! I can understand this case, but the clock has me confused! Lol! I'm going to air this outside and hopefully it goes away. Thanks again share! Always good to hear from you! :)
Hi nuts! True! The clock is a little vintage clock and it smells just like that old powder? Funny huh? :)
LOL!!! I just wrote a whole thing for you here and POOF! gone...I'll start over just cuz it's you J ;).
Ok, what you can do to rid the odor is...get a damp washcloth (don't use hot water, it will loosen the glue that's holding on the fabric to the case) and spray some white vinegar on it...I know, I know but just try it. Make sure you squeeze out all the excess water and vinegar. Wipe and leave open. If that doesn't do it, try again, it's old and been closed a long time. Still smell funny? Put an open box of baking soda inside, close for a few days. See what happens. Let me know if that doesn't work. Both are neutralizers. You can use the baking soda to clean the inside of your fridge afterwards or what I do is, and you're gonna love this, I add both to my laundry. My clothes come out so clean and bright and seriously do not smell like either!
Apple Cider Vinegar is a natural antibiotic! (so is garlic, but garlic smell does linger!!! I was going to get sarcastic here, but I'll bite my tongue! lol ) Let me know if these hints from "me" don't work. We'll go from there.
And B.T.W. Pa-leeze don't "grind" your teeth on a pearl (LOL) All you have to do if it's a good grade pearl is barely touch it to your teeth. If you're still on, give me your email addy so I can get your reg addy and I'll send you a few so you can see. I'm not going to be on much longer, we can always touch bases tomorrow! oxox kiddo!!!
Lol! I do that all the time, write something long, and boom, where did it go? :) you're so sweet to rewrite share! Thanks for that advice! That case is still outside, I forgot to bring it in! Hope, no rain! I will try the vinegar! I have used baking soda. I do the strangest things. I put musty books in the freezer, might be my imagination, but I think it helps! I do take Apple cider vinegar and I love garlic! Oh and lol! I will go back and amend that statement, haha, I do have some pearls, so no worries to send, but that is so sweet of you! I guess I did say grind huh? Lol! I crack myself up, sometimes I read something I wrote much later, and I say to myself, "I actually wrote that, must have been the wine!" #blameitonthewine :) oxox
Is fantastic, love it!! Im enjoying the recipes to clean it, very interesting! :)
I think, the best is sun and air for some days :)
LOL! I do the same thing! It's best tho when I see a post that I forgot I've seen and say the same exact thing! Love it when that happens.
I just have to say, cleaning that with the baking soda might leave it too gritty and really hard to remove baking soda afterward, that's why I suggested the vinegar. I wonder if you put a small bowl of vinegar in there it would absorb it??? Nah! If you're like me, you'd probably pick it up an spill it and then I do think it would, you know ...yuk! ;)
BTW can you see AH now, with all might and the pearl comes out with nothing left...lmao!!!
Thanks vv! It is still outside! I will wipe with vinegar, let you know...:)
Laugh out share! I pictured Ah grinding that pearl down to nothing or breaking a tooth and being like that darn jewels! Lol
Yes, here we use vinegar to clean as well, baking soda, some products to clean this type of things too.
Garlic...mmmm, the smell ;))
I hope the finally result will be better that the actually condition and not upside down :) lol!!!!
You're right, sometimes, I make things worse! Lol! But not too often ;)
I know, as me !! :)
Was a joke, of course your case will look amazing!!
hey Jewels, did the odor disappear yet???
Hi share! It is better! I left it outside, then I wiped with vinegar and now I feel comfortable using it! Thanks so much! ;)
