Well I am hoping for some guidance on this find from my favourite thrift shop here in Sydney, Australia. This is the second of these wooden necklaces bought the same day.
Again the use of the wooden cubes but with dice, glass beads and even a tiny little brass cow bell!
Is it pre- or post- WWII?
'Wood turning' means Germany or Czech origin?
I just like the Bauhaus look of it all!
Wooden Jewels!
Many thanks VIRGINIA VINTAGE 'n AGHCOLLECT too !!!!!
Many thanks VIOLET ORANGE !!!!!!!!!
Many thanks JULIE !!!!!
Are the dice wooden also? I also love the glass drops!
Dice look like bone! Love this!
look like some thing by Andy Warhol...lol
Many thanks ROYCROFTBOOKSFROMME, KAREN, DON, MANIKIN, JULIE, MIKELV & SKLO too !!!!!!!
No, the dice are Bakelite, I think, ..... the beads are Czech Facetted glass.
This one is really out of the ordinary.
Many thanks BRATJDD, SEAN 'n AUSTRO too !!!!!!
Your very welcome Kevin!!!
My thoughts on this are that the dice are too white to be that old. I have a collection of dice, and the old ones were made of Ivory! That means they would be yellow by now!
I imagine you could buy these at a craft store even dice for beading and being creative :-)
Many thanks SHAREURPASSION, MANIKIN 'n NORDICMAN too !!!!
Thanks DR FLUFFY!
Many thanks GARY !!!!!!
Many thanks TREY !!!!!!
i would guess that these are from the 1950s.
I had forgotten about this piece and just two days ago, I put holes in dice, dominoes and vintage bingo rounds to use as beads for jewelry. Just something quirky I decided to do for fun. I'll post when done. Looks like I'm not the only one that thinks like that ;)
I'm looking forward to see what you've come up with SHAREURPASSION !!!!
