I bought this some months ago not knowing what it was. I did think it was old however and would look at home amongst my Art Nouveau stuff which is mostly Kralik and mostly green or mother of pearl. Yesterday I found it on www.madforglass.com., attributed to Kralik and dated as circa 1910. Also, from there I learned the type of glass and the type of iridescence, so thank you, m f g.
As you can see it is ribbed, highly glossy until the top where it is like mother of pearl. Inside the rim it is matt lime green.....a colour I love. The rim was hand shaped and the base has a snapped off pontil.
Height 18 cm./ 7 inches
Thank you, aghcollect, valentino, vetraio, Jewels and NativeJewelrylovers for the loves.
I have that same shape done in a Pepita on a clear ground and I assume mine is Rindskopf. The snapped pontil makes on yours makes me think Rindskopf. I wonder what is what??
Very interesting, Mac63. The seller said it was Rindskopf, but as no one bid I assumed the consensus was it wasn't Rindskopf. I bought it because I liked it. Now I AM confused, but I'd probably prefer Rindskopf to Kralik :-)
Mac63, Now that I've looked at your Pepita I have to agree this vase seems the same shape. What is the height of your Pepita?
That said I have two Kralik Harlequin vases that have snapped pontils, not that I know enough to support one view or the other :-)
Thank you for the loves, mikelv, welzebub, CardinalLady, Michelle, Mac63, antiquerose, ozmarty and MoonSL.
Mine stands at 6.5"
The version of this vase on http://www.madforglass was 6.5" too. Of course hand made items always vary.
There is a shorter version of this - Moonstone posted one like a while back. Al ID'd it as Rindskopf.
