I believe this to be an old Victorian Mini Fairy Lamp with glass jewels. I went to an auction and this piece was in a flat. It looked cool to me and I bought the flat for $2. I believe it is very old. It has 18 jewels. Has anyone see one like it.
The lamp is indeed a "fairy lamp" to use the term loosely. It is illustrated in figure 308 in Ruf's book "Fairy Lamps". It had a 1996 book value of $150-200 and this is about right today. However, I have seen them sell for much higher at auction.
The maker is unknown, but it is not a clarke commissioned design.
Your lamp has been electrified. It originally burned a candle. The hole drilled in the bottom will diminish the value somewhat. For $2 your dun good.

Sorry for the double posts....stuff happens when you are my age.
So because it has been electrified, it ruins the value? I guess the candle holder has a hole in it. Just how old are these?
It does not ruin the value, but will have some effect on the serious collector. A beginning collector probably won't even care. A hole drilled in the candle cup is much like a hole drilled in an oil lamp, but probably not as significant. The most significant deterrent is a missing or cracked jewel.
There are three parts to this lamp. The base, the shade, and the candle cup. I have uploaded a photo for you at:

I have no documentation on this particular jeweled lamp. However, it is believed to be around the turn of the 20th century, but probably no later than 1910. I suspect this lamp had a religious connection....most similar jeweled candle lamp designs do.
The market is all over the place on these jeweled lamps. From less than $100 to over $750. As with many auctions, it depends on who is bidding and how badly they want it.
This is but one of many jeweled candle lamp designs of the same vintage.
Ok. I have a very nice lamp I paid for $2 dollars. I may have to keep this one since I have so much invested in it lol. It looks to have never burned a candle. It is a unique piece. Thanks for the info.
I agree completely. It would make a very nice night light for a child's bedroom. One they would always remember. It is a great find!!
Beautiful. I have one that burns candles. I need to take a pic and post it.
