I'd like to know if there is a specific name for this type of wardrobe, how old it is, and what type of wood it is made of. It's incredibly heavy.

Thanks Sean! Not bad for $50. I love it! There has to be a specific name for this form though.

It's quite short and the dresser and wardrobe share the same wall. It has a small foot protruding from the wardrobe to stop it from toppling over so... maybe, wild guess here but... maybe it came of a ship? The dresser looks as if it's burl of some sort.
Take the draws out, look inside.and out for a stamp or number and keep us up to.date. Really is beautiful.

The pictures are blurry and show no details of construction or hardware and there are no dimensions. I am assuming you are directing attention toward the upright single door unit.

I was looking around the Internet trying to get an idea of how to date a few antiques given to me thru the family. I think this may be the same dresser I was looking for info on. However, I can't tell what the feet look like. Is it on rollers?

I have one just like it and from the research I've done, I thought it was a 1920s chifferobe. Mine has the original rollers. Any idea who made it?
