Recently, I found this shade. It came together with some metal parts which I beleive is original. I removed them to make this photos.
I think it looks like "streifen und flecken" - and draws upon Koloman Mosers design. Do you know if this kind of shade was copied, or could it be an original?
Thank you so much welzebub and sklo42 for loving it!!!
I have done some searching and could find nothing like this, either decor or shape. My gut reaction to this shade is that it is not a Loetz shade, but definitely done in the manner of a Streifen und Flecken. My inclination is to say that it is possibly by Kralik who we know did a décor shift of the S&F decor, and also did lamp shades, but I have nothing to base that on other than pure instinct. I have never seen this decor in this color combination and could find nothing even remotely like it. I would like to see an image of the edge of the neck to see the finish on it. I would also, purely for fun, love to see the hardware it came with.
Regardless of who made it, I think it is a real treasure.
aghcollect, dlfd911, vetraio50, Elisabethan, czechman, Loetzbuddies, leahpia and austrohungaro - many thanks for loving it!!!
welzebub - thank you so much for your very kind and interesting comment!!
I added a photo of the rim - the outer side of the rim is cut at an "angle" (or how to say in english?) but the inner side is just straight/uncut. I will add a photo of the metal parts too!
The treatment of the rim is the same as on this shade: http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/101628-art-nouveau-iridescent-uranium-glass-sha
The only thing I could find with a bit similar type of glass, is this:
http://www.christies.com/lotfinder/furniture-lighting/koloman-moser-hanging-light-circa-1905-5610526-details.aspx
It seems to have the same opacity of the glass, although of different shape, blue dots and more straight "streifen"/stipes than mine has.
Well whoever made my shade, I really love it!
When light comes into it - it transforms and "comes to life"!
It's very hard to catch that on photos, but I will try.
The shade matches exactly the shape of Musterschnitt 85/3883 made 1901 by Loetz for Bakalowits. The dekor mentioned there is Gre 1/72. Your Dekor Strifen+Flecken is not mentioned, but Loetz may have used this shape lateron with his own Dekor Ausf 122. For details please look up at eg loetz.com
Sure does.... nice find.... so likely a variant of the Ausf 122 décor.
