My daughter and I went to a goodwill down the road from us in Charleston, SC several weeks ago, and on my way out I noticed a gorgeous blue and white porcelain vase out of the corner of my eye, at the front of the store, that I ended up purchasing on my way out for $3. At the time of purchase I didn't think anything of it-- until my daughter asked me out of curiosity what kind of vase it was later that night. Unsure, I looked at the bottom of the vase assuming there would be a marking I could easily identify, but instead I discovered writing engraved into the bottom rim of the vase covered in what looked to be dust/ dirt from sitting on someone's shelf. Needless to say, I took a cloth to clean it up to reveal the writing, and took a photo of the bottom of it hoping to get a clear image to find out what was. Immediately, I realized that the writing was still fuzzy and hard to read. So, at that point I took a bunch of photos, and uploaded them to the computer to get a closer look-- Here's where I made my second discovery that blew my mind...
As I flipped through the photos I realized that when I zoomed in there were microscopic images all over the bottom of the vase. The spots on the bottom of the vase that I assumed was embedded dirt/ dust ended up being images of people, ect. My first thought was complete shock. I started taking more... And more... And MORE images....
I knew at this point this wasn't a typical vase. The more images I take the more that is revealed... I realized that not only were the images on the bottom, but they were ALL over the vase. People, animals, skeletons, and more unusual writing that appeared in the images when looked at under a magnifying glass, or zoomed in on photos.
I have spent weeks searching high and low for answers (researching, contacting experts around my area, antique shops, ect.) and no one is familiar with the marking, or has heard of anything like it.
With that being said, I have attached pictures of the vase, and was curious if anyone had anyone had any information to help me?
