Another great yard sale buy for $25. These loudspeakers were used by the early radios to improve the sound and to extend the range by allowing speakers in rooms other than where the radio was.
Apparently they were good-sellers and a lot of them were manufactured and sold. The condition of this one is really good with mostly just a bit of normal wear on the wood finish and some minor soiling on the needlepoint fabric.
The original speaker is intact and appears to be in good shape, although I haven't tried plugging it into anything.
I thought the cool switch/name plate on the side of the unit was worth what I paid for the whole thing, and it makes a nice piece of furniture to put some of my other antiques on!
