I need some help with this item. I bought it for $9 at a thrift store at the same time I bought the inkwell in another of my postings.
There's isn't any sort of manufacturer name or mark on it anywhere. I had a gut feeling this item may have been an authentic antique when I looked it over, but also the nagging feeling that it was some made in China (or India) reproduction. The price was right regardless.
It turns out the companion inkwell WAS an antique and so I figure this may be as well but I'm unable to find any info or similar photos.
Maybe it's not even what I think it is - a pen nib box - but was used for snuff, or rings, or a weekly pill dispenser. Perhaps it was used to store toenail clippings!
As usual I'm not even sure where/how to categorize it. More information greatly appreciated!
