Here are my other pair of antique Charles Chevalier Paris opera glasses from around the 1880 period. The case is missing the brass latch button and a piece of the interior lining. One of the eye pieces is slightly bent, but they're still a really cool item. They are wrapped with what appears to be Mother of Pearl. They still work great!!
It is mother of pearl...:) all I know
Hi, around 1880!
Thanks Jewels!! I had always thought that, but wasn't quite sure. Even with the slightly dented eye piece, I still thought they were a fairly nice pair of opera glasses.
Thanks kyratango!! I had always wondered about the age of these.
Chevalier Paris, just like my others do.
Thank you CindB!!

I have a similar pair. They belonged to my great grandmother 1852-1926 and maybe to her mother 1820-1862, before her. They were big fans of the opera.
That's awesome kwqd! I have a couple pair of Charles Chevalier opera glasses. The other pair I own are leather wrapped with their original leather case.
