Just looking to ID "what it is used for". It measures about 15.5" long overall. The Pans are approx. 3.5" across. Estate sale find. Silver plated on brass or copper ( non-ferrous) with wooden handles. It does come apart at pivot point, into to pieces. I thought it was for cooking eggs but research into that type of device lead me nowhere. Would appreciate some help.

      Bed warmer?

Just a guess, maybe for flattening and shaping some dough of some sort...?

I have had several of these over the years. I was told they were for making a pastry out of two pieces of bread. You place a piece of bread on ech side and put a dollop of jam or any other filling in the center and clamp shut, trim off the excess bread and roast it over a fire. That's what I was told, but never tried it.

Hmmm, never would've guessed that one. I was leaning towards a bed warmer, but size is a tad small. You guys rock. Might just try it, now!
