Here is another posting from my friend in Europe:
I do not want you to think that this series of posts will be only about Tango (or only about Loetz, but we shall come to this later), so here is one of which I have seen only one other example, a pair of vessels on loetz.com under the name Syrius. This is actually a matching bowl, a shape usually ascribed to Kolo Moser's group. It can be with or without the applied feet, tall or boat-like, but its characteristic are the pulled ears, here embraced by the mount.
This is a real bronze mount. Although I have seen that flower element in several Gurschner's designs, more knowledgeable people at Vienna's Dorotheum tell me that it is not, so I have to comply, as I know too little about sculpture.
Then (sorry Deb, don't be mad at me for this), there are obviously two versions of Syrius: one on transparent glass, and one with an opaque layer that makes it real "optisch", i.e. almost white on the outside from a certain angle (I cannot photograph this). Maybe this is not a Syrius at all ?!
We love this one, both the glass and the mount.
We've got a cobalt papillon bowl on a mount that we think was made by the same artist as this one. we must take its pic soon and will share it here. the bowl is nice, but the mount is superb and very Art Nouveau. will keep ypu posted about it ;)

Not Gurschner, and I suspect a "marriage" of glass and mount. That's not to say that either are not beautiful! It would help to see more of the mount and how it fits at the bottom to the glass. As pictured, it looks like the bowl is hovering, which would not be typical of mounted glass pieces of this type.
I would suggest that the mount has been bent over the years, perhaps due to removing the glass to clean it or the metal. Compare the mount and glass to these:

I take back my comment about the floating aspect. I can't see any other reason for the internal pegs to be shaped that way other than to support a relatively flat piece. I had a piece with a mount made with similar design motif that held a Heckert Silberbrand. I'll take a look in my mount research files to see if I can track down this one for you. I still am firm on it not being by Gurschner, but I do suspect an Austrian maker for these floral spray type motif mounts.

Andy, I could never be mad at you! This piece reminds me of another one that I have in the same shape but not the same coloras yours. Mine was made with a silver overlay. I will send you a photo of it. The decor with the "opal" and the spreading pinkish violet color is "Violetta".
