Just when I said I would never buy another sewing machine - having four already with their cabinets - along came this one for $10 at a local swap 'n shop. Having only Singers in my collection I figured a White would add a little variety... and so the family grows to five.
I'm not as familiar with these machines as I am with Singers, and I found it harder to date from the serial number. They want you to call the company to have the machine dated (which I haven't done yet) but based on info I've found online I'm guesstimating a date sometime in the late 1920s. The serial number is FR3095817 if anyone has a good source for this information.
This machine is equipped with the add-on electric motor and seems in good condition over all. I'm sure it'll clean up nice when I get around to it, and the detail of the decals looks great, with a few exceptions where it's been worn off in places.
That's it, NO more sewing machine collecting!
lol :) it's a disease. The White Family Rotary dates are available here http://www.treadleon.net/WhiteSM/whites.html
That's the site I went to in order to make my guesstimate. Unfortunately their numbers only go up to "FR 3020912 1923" and so I extrapolated my number into the late 1920s, or maybe even the 1930s?
Ok :) the help desk it is then, and you'll have to wait for them.
