This Jenny Lind trunk was a little different from the norm. This one has a domed top on it. The only other one I've ever seen. It was once paper covered, but only about 1/2 of the paper covering survived. So, I stripped the remaining paper covering and refinished the exterior and relined the interior and original tray.
The trunk is a bit heavier than the usual trunk. The wood is not stained. I mixed tung oil and polyurethane to seal it with. But, the natural color of the wood just came thru very nicely.
This was one of the few that I've done that I did not have a key for. I had this one for several years and ended up donating it to a benefit auction last month. I do miss her, but she went for a very good cause.
Sorry PatSea!! Those were from a few years ago. Our Christmas tree is an 9ft artificial pencil tree that we just replaced this year. So, not vintage (yet!!).
Many thanks for the kind comment!!
PatSea, that trunk took me about 6 or 7 hours to reline. It's because of the compartment in the lid ad the shape of the trunk. Lengthy but worth it all in the end.
Thanks Jewels, CindB and aghcollect for the loves!!
We've had most of our ornaments for 20 years. So, not really what you'd call vintage yet. My Mother, on the other hand, has many very vintage ornaments (some are 70 years old) that she has promised me one day. I'll have to beat my 7 sisters and 2 brothers to the draw though!!
so love your new postings!!
Thank you Sean!! Very kind of you indeed!!
So pretty! Well done jscotto!
Very nice, and different looking JL. I like it. I have a question. This is just my personal preference, but why don't you dye your leather straps or handles? I noticed this on you Pink Steamer trunk a well. I think the unfinished leather looks, well. unfinished. Like I said, just my preference to add a little color, and leather clear coat.

PS I will be posting pics of a Jenny Lind I just finished.
Thanks Jim!! Those trunks were done a few years back. I now die all of my leather. You're absolutely right about the fact that the color gives it a better look. I now have several different leather dies in my little shop. What are your thoughts on the dome top style JL? I've never seen another, though I know they're out there. Do you have any in your shop that you've restored? I'd like to see another.
Thanks!! Scott
Thanks Virginia!!
Very nice , Jenny Lind, I have not seen another with a dome top either. and I'm curious as to the length of the trunk.Looks long for a Jenny
Thanks Drill!! This JL is about 28" long.
Another beautiful trunk. I haven't seen a domed top Jenny Lind either.
