I don't know much about violins but I could tell this one is pretty old. I got it at a garage sale for cheap. The detail work on it is like nothing I have ever seen! Such a beauty! I can't see any maker label inside. However there is the word "Dresden" printed on the bridge. I would think that maybe it was made in Dresden, Germany then? I wish I knew more about it! I purchased it from an older gentleman named Gene Riggsby. He told me that it had belonged to his deceased wife's grandfather Martin Sauer of Sauer Farms, Bellevue, Ohio. Gene said he was told that Martin played it a lot. That is very apparent by the wear on the neck.
