This lovely piece has the same colors on the inside as well as the outside; really a piece of stoneware. Problem is, I can't read the name on the bottom, yes it is plain, but just can't read it? Perhaps, someone will recognize this potter and let me know. Thanks a bunch! Aren't the color's fantastic!

Also, in the base, I can see specs of yellow in the raw mixture?

Try taking a 'stone rubbing' to see if that helps to read the signature. Put a piece of paper against the base, and go over the area of the signature with a crayon or pencil. Like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WSyq6gUkRg

Try using some Baby Powder and post a picture. Sometimes that works for me.....but sometimes it doesn't ......worth a try :)

Wow! Talc powder really helps! Thank you! Okay, first name is Charles in my opinion, what does the community think last name is? I will post the talc powder photo. :)

Am researching the pottery company now, haven't found anything regarding Charles yet, but bet you are right since his brother was a potter there. This truly is an amazing piece if by him to be this old and no chips! Thank you all for assisting me again!

Charles Lietz died March 21, 1966, but never found where he did any pottery like his brother. But, I am stating mystery solved and again. Thank you for your help!

I love this piece and would make a special spot to display it if I were you. Luckylady I have a soft spot for free form/organic pottery like this....where most other's would just walk on by it. Even my sister's have an eye for it now...not that they like it but because they see it in my house everywhere and have grown us to seeing strange shaped pottery (as they call it).

I LOVE this piece as well! It is displayed in my living room now! I wish I knew for sure it is Lietz or Lutz? I can't find anywhere, where Charle Lietz did any pottery. I have sent photos to the Charles Lutz site to see what they have to say, although, I have not seen Lutz do any free form art pottery either, but they said for me to send photos and I was happy to comply. :)

Melaniej, I have ruled out Charles Lutz, thus I am closing my case and agreeing with you of Charles Lietz. :). The Charles Lutz site stated signature is very close but Lutz does not remember doing a piece like this although he did do pottery as well.
