I got this at the same sale as the violin. I'm not sure when or where it was made. My mother says it's an old canner. No stories behind this item though. It's just shiny!

these are really good for cooking sea food in on the beach....still have one, use it keeping the news paper for the wood stove..
I guess I am getting old. I remember being given a bath in one of these in the front yard before indoor plumbing. They set it in the sun and filled it and let the sun warm the water.
That is ironic Roy! We are utilizing it next to our fireplace to hold kindling! LOL
fhrjr2, we are all getting older! LOL I spent a summer at my Great Grandparents house when I was young and though we bathed indoors, my sister and I were the first of the grandchildren that were allowed to use the indoor toilet, and only because on one ill fated visit to the outhouse I was delivered about a dozen bee stings on my hind end! We boys were still sent out to the edge of the woods if we had to go #1!
Phil, I may just use it for that as well! I have some that are ready for the freezer!
I appreciate all of your input! I paid $15 I think I did well!
Hey I paid 5.00 with a lid ...lol if you look at my post of old medals you 'll see it to the left of the wood stove ...
