I am not sure when this picture/print was actually made, but it is interesting none the less. A gas powered tricycle. Pretty cool stuff. And look how the dude is dressed. How fashion has changed. Yet in some ways has stayed the same. I thought some of you would appreciate this and thank you for looking my friends! : )

P.S. Has anyone ever seen one of these on American Pickers or anywhere else? It doesn't seem to me that many of these were made or that many, if any, withstood the test of time.....

Where or how did you acquire the image?

Maybe this is where they got the idea for power wheel chairs.

      Thanks for sharing.

walksoftly awesome post and information. I will need to thoroughly comb through the links. The image was on a sheet of paper with a bunch of my Mom and Dads old stuff. Not sure if it was from an old magazine or what. Very well could be the start of wheelchairs as we know it today fjrjr2. Thank you as well for the comment.

The Petrol-Cycle was on the front page of the February 14, 1891 edition of the Scientific American as stated in the first link. To think what this guy could have accomplished if not for the British laws at the time.
" At the time the maximum speed was 2 mph in the city and 4 mph in the country side. In addition each vehicle had to be attended by 3 people of which one had to walk in front of the vehicle waving a red flag (The 1865 Red Flag Act) to warn other road users and help control horses. This act had originally appeared as a result of the growing number of steam powered vehicles. "
